We have all seen this (in most people's opinions) the most horrible form of jokes. The "Horrible" Visual Pun. This post will investigate these so called "horrible" puns, to see if they are really horrible, or if people just think they're lame (same thing really).
On many occasions visual puns were mainly used in TV shows; usually just to foreshadow the character "breaking the fourth wall" a couple of seconds later. For example: in the show "The Fairly Odd Parents" Timmy Turner (the main character) wishes the school to be like a find it book. So when an alien wants to kill him with a ray gun, she says "Nice to meet you!" but somehow has a giant sausage in her hand, prompting Timmy Turner to say "Thank you horrible visual pun." This shows that visual puns when mentioned to be "horrible" can be useful for setting up different types of joke situations.
We now look at the other side of the story. "Nice to 'meat'" you is pretty lame. And visual puns are sometimes unrealistic like the one in the picture. And the good visual puns are becoming overused and cliched, so they're becoming horrible.
So, I think the "horrible" is really what you think about certain visual pun jokes. Tell me your opinion in the comments section under this post.
One, make the font a different color, two, change your background, and three, the post was shorter than usual...
ReplyDeleteOne; what's wrong with the background? Two; this was actually one of my longer posts.
DeleteSometimes horrible situation becomes funny for for the change of behave & joking. I saw in a movie that the Bandit are checking the body of a bus passenger to take his money. The passenger is laughing instead of crying because he feels funny when the bandit touches his sensitive places. How funny the situation was!
